Emily is a Yorkshire based artist interested in exploring the connections between historic and contemporary cultures.
She mainly works with collagraphs – an experimental technique, which produces a rich textured surface and layers of colour in the prints. Emily is currently developing sculptural printmaking techniques using plaster and has recently completed a commission for York Archives which can be seen in York Central Library.
From her studio, Emily run courses for adults in a range of experimental printmaking techniques, encouraging confident exploration of individual approaches and styles. She also runs community projects, where practical creative activities become a focus for conversations and developing new ideas.
Emily is particularly interested in working in collaboration with museums, archives and heritage organisations and enjoys the model of artist residencies as a way of getting to know a specific place and understanding what it means to the people who live and work there.
